Take along plenty of drinking water. You always need to stay hydrated. You will need the water to prepare your food and for cleaning up after yourself. You may also need water to wash your hands and feet. It is better to bring along more than you need than not enough.

Keep a close eye on your dog while you are camping and always keep him on a leash. Many camping areas have rules about pets. Be sure to keep your pet away from others belongings. There are those who fear dogs.

A flashlight is also a must have item when you camp, but make sure the batteries are fully charged or new. Also be sure and have extra batteries in case they are needed. One way to be sure the batteries do not accidently die on the trip is to put them into the flashlight backwards when not is use. That way if the switch is accidentally left on, they stay charged. This also ensures you never misplace the batteries.

Be sure and back bedding and sleeping clothes. If you are going to be camping a long time be sure and purchase an expensive sleeping bag. It needs to be rated for below freezing temperatures if needed. Extra blankets are a good idea for warmth or for extra padding. Many people like to sleep in warm clothing to help with cold temperatures, so do not forget your PJ's.

Food is another staple, like water, that is needed when camping. If you have the place to cook that is the best, but you can always take dried meals and snacks. If bringing fresh food, be sure that all items are kept cool in a cooler or refrigerator. There are many one dish meals that can be used for camping to make food preparation a lot easier.

When you are cleaning up you should always have soap. Do not forget to pack soap, shampoo and other cleaning items. The most important toilette item to pack is toilet paper.

There is not a lot to say about a first aid kit, except that every camper needs one in case of an emergency. You can never be too safe.

With fond memories of camping people will tell you that being prepared is a must. The information provided here should help make it so that you have a memorable trip as well. Please keep this information in mind and you and your family will have a great camping trip.

Outdoors enthusiasts tend to be know where the best places are to set up camp, fish, hunt, and extremely find comfort in nature without the hubbub of city life. According to some of the biggest outdoorsmen around, if you're a fan of camping, Bay Area Houston is the place to be.

Well, what is Bay Area Houston? Bay Area Houston is an area of Texas that is tucked in the space between Houston, the fourth largest city (by population) in the United States, and the Gulf Coast. It's most notable cities include League City, Nassau Bay, Kemah, and Seabrook, despite the area's economic partnership (BAHEP) covers communities from Pasadena to Galveston. Naturally, the big city of Houston makes the area such a draw for visitors because they can travel readily from big city hustle & bustle to the calm, cool, and relaxing atmosphere of Bay Area Houston.

Back to the why of Bay Area Houston and what it means for camping. The area is dedicated to preserving natural beauty and building the growth of its population around it. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to get out & enjoy nature to its fullest.

If you decide that camping in Bay Area Houston is in your future, keep the following in mind:

Define the Type of Camping You Mean – This seems like a ridiculous question until you realize that camping can mean both having an RV and tent camping. If you're going the RV route, places like La Marque, San Leon, and Kemah are highlights.

State Parks Win Out – If you're going the tent camping way, then you're probably going to find that state parks are the way to go most of the time. Still, there are some other parks that can be included. Some notable spots include Galveston Island State Park, Brazos Bend State Park, and Bayou Campground. Be aware that tent camping may require you to venture out a little more than you think.

Always Be Aware of the Weather – Remember that you're in Texas, so it's going to be hot. Yes, you can find more agreeable weather thats of summer, but summer is usually when kids are out of school & family vacations are in full swing. Average temperatures for the Bay Area Houston can be in the 90s and 100s, and that's not counting humidity. Even at night, temperatures can be fairly warm, so be prepared.

If you choose southeast Texas for camping, Bay Area Houston is a pretty cool place to look out. Once you've defined the type of camping that's right for you and your family, you'll be able to find a location that suits your needs. This is key as many areas designated for use in camping do not have sufficient variety to handle RVers or tent campers. As with any prolonged adventure outside, you should maintain some attention to the weather and any adverse changes, but so long as you are prepared for most weather (especially sun screen & plenty of water in the Texas sun – whew!), You'll be OK.

Sleep under the stars, on a mountain, near a stream or in the forest, -you can camp just about anywhere you take your truck bed tent. No matter what campground or open area you choose, the outdoors is right outside your tent door. Camping lets you spend the night in remote places and take a break from these luxurious comforts of home. And, as great as it feels to be outdoors, it's much harder to enjoy yourself without a good night's sleep.

Here are a few tips to help you when you are camping with a truck bed tent.

When choosing tent camping sites, decide which amenities are most important. Do you prefer primitive sites with minimal resources or are you looking for easy access to showers and restrooms? Either way take the time to choose wisely.

Get the right bedding and consider what you plan to sleep on. In a truck bed tent you should have a good quality air mattress that fits the bed of your truck. Most people are used to sleeping indoors with total quiet, a mountain of pillows and a huge, fluffy mattress. To get things as close to your normal sleeping habits is a must when camping. You want to be rested for the next days activities. Custom-shaped for your truck, the AirBedz Lite Truck Bed Air Mattress features their patented wheel well cutouts. The optional wheel well inserts convert your air mattress for in-home use.

Be sure to wear yourself out. Sleeping in a tent is a lot better after a full day of hiking, fishing, paddling or swimming than if you just sit around the campfire eating hot dogs all day. Plan on crashing early, since there's less to do outdoors when the sun goes down, and go to bed exhausted. This will help with getting a good night's rest.

Even while roughing it, keep yourself as fresh as possible. Nobody likes sleeping in a tent with someone who smells like the trails and has dirty feet. We all know how hard it is to keep a tent clean. With a truck bed tent it is even harder. My advice is to have screen tent with a rug set up with your truck tent to help keep you feet clean. Use a cloth to sponge bathe in a creek or use a water jug, or baby wipes. Remember you'll sleep much better when you're more refreshed.

Sleeping in a tent is the worst when you're half in a puddle of water or on unlevel ground. You do not have to risk it or bring a waterproof tarp when camping if you are camping with a truck bed tent.

These tips are just a few ideas to help make your truck bed tent camping a great outdoor experience for you and your family.

Sleeping bags are standard on campers. Almost no camper would leave without a tent.

Tents are movable shelters that are small enough to be folded, rolled up and transported by a person. The tents are made of a material of similar material, that is packed or attached to a post frame. Modern stores have durable waterproof fabrics and foldable aluminum bars.

Tents vary in size. There are those old enough to sleep, somebody. Others are quite long and can sleep a whole family. Modern tents can be started within five to ten minutes.

Although the tents are robust, durable and resistant to weather conditions, they are maintenance-free. The tents remain as long as their owners take care of them. The quality of the tents is important; A tent is usually the only thing that stands between a camper and survival.

Here are some tips for taking care of tents.

1) Tents must be watertight. Most tent manufacturers claim that their tents are waterproof and that all seams and joints are sealed. It is better to close them twice for safety reasons. Professionals in outdoor activities recommend contacting the manufacturer and using the sealant that seals the seams.

2) Bring extra coins for camping. Bring extra zippers, tape, fabrics and other materials for on-site repairs. Keep in mind that the longer it takes to repair the damage, the greater the damage.

3) Practice assembling the tent. When you train to install your tent, you are less likely to tear, bend or break parts of the store. You can also quickly set up a tent.

4) Apply the correct states and use them. The posts help to secure the tent on the ground. If you camp in good weather and on solid ground, regular betting is suitable. If you lay soft ground or if there is wind, stronger bets are required. Make sure that you apply the correct tension to the inserts.

5) Avoid placing seats in direct sunlight. Although tents are offered for any climate conditions, they are damaged by direct sunlight. Ultraviolet light from direct sunlight weakens and deteriorates the tissue of stores. That is why it is best to install tents in the shade.

6) Use the floor covering. Before placing a tent, it is recommended to place a tarpaulin on the floor where the tent rests. This protects the bottom of the camping tent against dirt, stones, twigs and other objects that can tear the bottom of the store. It also helps to keep the water on the floor outside the store.

7) Ventilate the tent in the right way. Moisture can accumulate in a tent. Opening a window or fin prevents the interior of the store from condensing.

8) Clean and dry the tent completely after each use. This extends the life of the store.

Do not forget that tents are like a good wine; With the right attention, they improve with age.

Before you start your fabulous family camping holiday, set up your tent! Make sure all cable lines are intact and have enough stakes to install your tent. Clean the inside and outside of your store according to the manufacturer's instructions before repacking. You will be grateful when you arrive at the campsite!

In present times, we strongly spend time with our family. In the race of getting ahead, we leave so many important things behind. We all forget to make time for the important stuff like our family. But how can we change that? One of the ways you can ensure you spend quality time with your family is camping.

Camping is just perfect. You are away from all the hustle and surrounded by your loved ones. There will be no distractions around and you will be able to bond with your family.

How to ensure that the trip is successful?

The aim is to be able to spend maximum time with family. The following are some helpful points to make that happen.

– Involving kids in the planning process:

Make sure when you plan, you involve your kids. They should be the center of your attention. When you are in the planning phase, let them decide things like games, meals, camping site and so on. Ask them to pack the required items and make a game out of it.

– Become a Teacher:

Take this time to teach your children about camping. Teach them how to start a fire or how to set up a tent and so on. Tell them facts about the place you are going to and make them more interested in the trip. They will always cherish the time they get with you.

How to Pick Camping Gear

One thing to consider is your tent or camper size. I use tents all the time, even during the winter months. A tent is one of the easiest things to pick. When you consider tent size you need to consider a few things. One thing to consider is how much room do you want or need? I prefer to have a larger tent so I have room for all my gear and space to change or move around. Some people, especially hikers, only want enough room to sleep and to store their gear. Long term camping is all about comfort and having fun, hiking is about your gear being light weight and portable. For camping you need to consider how many people you will have with you. The more people the bigger the tent or multiple tents. The good thing is most tents have a capacity ration on them and that helps with picking. I usually look at the capacity and division by 2 so there is space for everyone to move around and store their gear. It also allows for extra space if it starts raining and you can not keep all of you gear outside dry.

Another thing to consider is cooking at the camp site. There are a lot of options for cooking while camping. You can use the grill provided, cook over an open fire, or bring propane stove. All of these options will work for anyone while camping. I usually will have a 2 burner propane stove and a grate to put over the fire. This allows more options for cooking and more area to cook on. Using charcoal is good but you need to make sure you have enough for 3 meals a day and if you are camping for an extended period of time the charcoal takes up a lot of space. You also have to worry about keeping it dry. With propane you have small canisters that you can buy and you do not have to worry about keeping it dry. The propane stove provides a constant temperature cooking area. Propane stoves also come in a lot of different styles for your cooking convenience. You can also pack you home grill which allows you to have a big cooking area. I have seen cooking platforms for the propane stoves that allow you to cook away from the table and have space to put food and all your prep items. The metal fire grate is a very good way to cook and you can use wood from around the camp site to fuel it.

While cooking you still need to think about what type of pots and pans you will use. I prefer to use cast iron pans and steel pots. Everyone has their own preference on what they use. The cast iron is great if it seasoned properly. It allows for a great cooking area over a camp fire or propane stove. Regular pots and pans are just as good. Now you can get cheap sets or expensive sets to take but the best way to go is by taking old pots and pans form the house. That way you can throw them away if you ruin them and you are getting more for your money by reusing old items form the house. You can also purchase really good sets from second hand stores for really cheap.

Sleeping gear is another thing that any camper need to look at and figure out the best items for you to bring. Sleeping gear can be anything from sleeping bags to cots to an air mattress. What you need or want depends on the comfort level you want to have while camping. When picking a sleeping bag a few thing to think about are the weather where you are going. If you are camping in an extreme cold area you need the proper bag and if you are in a warmer area you need a lighter bag. If you plan on doing a lot of camping you need to consider a bag that can be adjusted for the climate that you are in. Picking a cot or an air mattress is all about comfort level. I like air mattresses because it is like sleeping at home. I have used cots before but that was when I was in the military. They can be very comfortable if you use some type of foam pad. A cot keeps you off the ground and allows for air flow between you and the ground. A cot is also a good way to save space inside a tent. You can store you gear underneath and be able to keep your tent a little neater. They also allow for a personal sleeping area when you have a lot of people in the tent. An air mattress acts like an insulator form the ground and helps keep you warmer. They also take up more space but they allow for more sleeping area.

Your camp site is another thing to consider. Do you want a portable tent to cover the table, do you need camp chairs and do you need something to do while camping. Now a portable tent is awesome to have at any camp site or sporting event. They allow for a quick place to get out of the weather or sun. They also allow you to cover you gear while camping. Now with a portable tent you need to think about having one with a screen or without. If you choose with it is a great idea to keep all the mosquitos out while you eat or just hang out. Without one you take the risk of being bit by mosquitos. So this is not a really important issue but it does help having one at the camp site. IF you need to think about furniture there are a bunch of options. You can pick a regular chair or one that is like a recliner. Picking a chair is all about how much you want to spend and comfort. I usually pick the $ 5 dollar chair because if it breaks I will not get upset and it is cheap to replace. Now what to bring to pass the time. You can bring anything you really want but I do have a few ideas that I always bring. You can bring corn hole and ladder ball. These two games can keep everyone occupied for hours. Then you can bring a deck of cards, uno and some board games. You can also bring fishing poles and your bikes.

Camping is a great way to get in family time and be able to enjoy the outdoors. I try to go camping three to four times a year. When you chose gear make sure it is something that you want. Do not buy the stuff that a salesman tells you too. Do your own research and make it fun to get your gear. Let your kids help or just surprise them.

1. Make plans

Going on a great and successful camp trip requires some prior experience or a bit more effort in the form of planning. While there are many different ideas as to how you should go about enjoying a vacation, many would agree that simply “winging it,” is not the ideal way. There are many things to do in the bay area and you can fit more exciting activities and plan for any set backs if you take some time to plan out your options. Rain should not stop you from going on a camping trip. You can go for camping on a rainy day provided you have the best waterproof tent. As a matter of fact, if you have the right product, you can enjoy your trip comfortably. When you are out there, tents will play a better role than just offering a place to lay your head on. They provide shelter, protection and comfort. This article will help you make the right choice. Read on.

Why Do You Need a Waterproof Tent?

No matter what type of camper you may be, you need to opt for the best tent. An average one may be cheaper and affordable, but it will not be a smart choice. An average quality product will not meet your needs during a rainy day. Let's take a look at some salient features of a quality product.

Stability : during a storm, you have to keep yourself safe. These products are more stable and feature sturdy poles. So, they can stand the attacks of the elements.

Ventilation : Being stuck in a low-quality stuffy tend when it is raining outside is the worst thing that can happen to you. So, it's a lot better to go for tents that are designed to meet ventilation requirements.

What To Look For When Buying One?

You can find many types of waterproof tendouts out there, but know that each one may be different. When buying one, we suggest that you take into account the features given below.

Fabric :

Typically, these tents are made from polyester or nylon. Aside from this, they can be made using poly cotton or PVC coated canvas. To ensure the quality of polyester, it is coated with polyurethane.

Hydrostatic head

The ability of a tent to handle water is measured with a tool known as Hydrostatic head. For measurement, a tube is filled with clean water and the tent fabric is placed under it. As soon as water starts seeping through the material, then the expert will measure the distance between water and the material. Ideally, tend fabrics with a rating of 1500 or higher are a good choice. However, the rule of thumb is that the higher the rating is the more effective the fabric of the product is.

Ventilation: a common problem with tents is condensation. The problem can be resolved if you get a tent that is well ventilated.

Assembly

For beginners, assembling a tent may be hard, especially if the product is not easy to use. On the other hand, if you are an expert, assembly may not be a problem for you. So, if you are just starting out, we suggest that you consider one that is easy to assemble.

Strength

As far as strength goes, make sure you consider a few important things, such as wind resistant. After all, you do not want a weak product.

Size and Weight

When looking to buy a waterproof tent, you do not want something that can keep water out. In fact, before getting to your desired camping site, you have to carry it through the journey. So, make sure you opt for something that is not too heavy.

Hopefully, these tips will help you buy the best waterproof tent.
